The journey continues on, pressing forward toward my goal of being able to run many long distance events including, marathons and long trail runs with my best friend Steve. Unfortunately, the body doesn't feel like it is progressing much as hoped as I fumble along in this journey.
This week was met with a mixed bag of weather, snow, slush, and FINALLY sunshine. This time of year presents many challenges, including keeping your feet dry, not kissing pavement due to mostly icy conditions and proper layering of clothing. It will be nice in a few months when all I will need to worry about is getting out the door early enough to try to avoid the extremely warm temperatures of summer. Until then, I do what I can to improve my bodies fitness levels until I can start mixing up terrain and including speed work and tempo work into the routines.
Next week is my first official "down week" of the training year, though it won't be drastically different because, well we are not running enough distance to really need too. Nevertheless, they are always welcome and they are a great refresher both mentally and physically.
