Trail run - Bonneville Shoreline Trail

I must start by saying congrats and kudos to however designed and created the new portion of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail up above the North Ogden divide. It is simply amazing! On December 1st, I went on one of the most beautiful trail runs I have done to date. My original intent was to just do a four mile run on the trail, however, after running the new trail for the first time, and reaching the two mile mark, I decided to keep going. The weather was perfect, especially for a December day!

My trail run ended up being six miles instead of four. My heart wanted me to go even further, however, I finally convinced myself (begrudgingly) to turn back as I had not ran in a month and I knew my body would not feel great the next day if I went further. My mind wandered greatly this day as I had much to contemplate about. A great deal of it was spent remembering my brother, who passed away on the 19th of November. It also wandered to areas such as next years goals with my running, family, work etc. It was one of those truly perfect runs, despite my lack of fitness now due to myself mentally needing a break from running after a really tough running regimen I put myself through from January to September. I was so grateful I went running that day as it was VERY needed after a VERY tough month of November!! Thanks mother nature for allowing such a perfect day and run.

  1. Nothing like a nice trail run to put everything in perspective and just think the situation over. I am glad you were finally able to get out and by the sounds of it to be able to knock off a 6 miler after a hiatus your fitness hasn't suffered too much. Keep it up!

  2. Blasted winter time! I hate the cold! Why can't global warming get a little warmer so I can have 50 degree days most of the winter? Just kidding, I am interested to go hit the trails after they have been lightly dusted with snow. I think that would be pretty, and pretty fun.
