2013 Training - Week 11

Another week has come and gone. The progression continues slowly but surely towards being where I want to be. Now if only we could get some warm weather again, it would be much appreciated.

I had two runs this week where I was met with snow. I am sick of snow and want it to go away for awhile. If only we could have snow during December and January, followed by beautiful weather the rest of the year. Maybe I just need to move to southern Utah where the winters are much more milder.

Anyways, my runs have gone well this week despite my constant wishing of better weather. We (Steve and I) are now up to 17 miles worth of running this week. Monday was a simple two miler followed by a Wednesday afternoon tempo run. I personally feel tempo runs are more difficult than intervals. Though the times are usually quite a bit slower than my interval workout runs, you also don't get a recovery time in between the runs. Alas, I was still able to complete my tempo runs with minimal problems.

Saturday despite the winter like temperatures, I decided to run a portion of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and LOVED it!! I started at the Ogden Nature Center's North trail head and ran a little over four miles to Ogden Canyon (12th St) and back. It was an AMAZING run and was able to get 1,542 feet in elevation gain during the run (more on this portion of the trail soon).

So this week we made 17 miles worth of tracks, including nine of them on the roads and eight of them on the trail. Great balance and I am hoping to continue to get this kind of balance all year long in regards to road running and trail running.

Next week, especially next Saturday will be FREAKING awesome!! Steve, will be down this way for a short visit and Saturday morning we are going to go do a training run together. We have many ideas in mind, and will find somewhere awesome to run our 10 mile run. It will be a great time and hopefully come late summer or early fall, this will become a weekly event. I am STOKED!!!
