2013 training - week 8

Energy is building each week as I continue to work towards the goals I have set out for myself in the running department. It has taken me some time to really get back into the swing of things, however, it is safe to say, I am back! The motivation currently is bursting at the seems and I am wanting to push myself harder than ever before. Alas, my mind tells me to progress properly and not blow my body out of the water so early into my training.

The week went well, I was FINALLY able to get some real elevation in this week. I was able to conquer the mighty hill again today. It has been a good six months since our last meeting and it was a love/hate reunion. I always enjoy the feeling of conquering such a tough portion of road to run, but while running this dreaded section, I always wonder why I put my body through such torture.

In addition to the famous hill run, I was able to nail another tempo run this week. This tempo run experience was different than the following weeks tempo run experience, as my last mile was easier to complete than my first mile. Let's hope all tempo and interval runs start to get easier soon.

Of course you are always grateful for the easy run of the week. To be able to just glide through the run, nothing more. It is always a welcomed friend in my book, especially at 5:30 in the morning.

Next week is our second down week for the training period, where the furthest run will only be three miles. There is a change coming to the schedule this next week however, as we transition from running three days a week to four days a week. I am excited! My body is ready for more, however, more importantly, so is my mind.

Below I have included a video for all of you to fall asleep through. This video is of my adventures during the last couple of weeks.

  1. Welcome back to the wonderful and bittersweet world of hill running! I am sure 'The Hill' has missed your daily donation of sweat, blood, and tears! Next hill to conquer... Lewis Peak! Your stats are coming right along as well with a two near perfect splits for your tempo run. I am afraid my splits were not so symmetrical! Here's to four a week!

    1. Thanks, I really do enjoy the hill runs, but the first few times you put them into the regimen, it is never pretty. Oh well, it is making me a stronger runner, so I really can't complain. You are right, next up, Lewis Peak!
